Bohuslav Šťastný was a left winger who spent his entire Czechoslovakian career with Tesla Pardubice, playing for them from 1964-81, and then moved to Germany and ESV Kaufbeuren, where he played for four seasons, retiring after the 1984-85 season. He did this despite overcoming a serious shoulder injury he sustained early in his career. His Czechoslovakian stats had him playing in 504 league games with 241 goals. Internationally, Šťastný was capped 188 times, scoring 73 goals. He played at the 1972 and 1976 Winter Olympics, winning silver in 1976 and bronze in 1972, and at the 1976 Canada Cup, where Czechoslovakia placed second. He also competed at six consecutive World Championships (1971-76), winning gold medals in 1972 and 1976, silvers in 1971 and 1974-75, and a bronze medal in 1973. |
