T his is more than just another stray dome. It's part of the Hyatt Regency hotel, and houses both an observation deck and a revolving restaurant. Culturally, this 50-story structure is symbol of pride for people who live in Dallas. Though it lacks the historic significance of the Pegasus beacon on the Magnolia Hotel, it remains a shining star in the night skyline. It can be difficult to take pictures from the observation level because of a tight chain-link fence. But magnanimous vandals have created several holes through which you can point a lens. At night, this building really shines. It is dotted with lights when the sun goes down, and if you're lucky you might catch one of the "light shows" that are put on where the lights form patterns and revolve.

  • The elevator trip to the top takes 68 seconds.
  • The structure weighs 23,600 tons.
  • It takes 55 minutes for the restaurant to revolve once.
  • Each strut is 15-feet long.
  • The dome is made of more than 100,000 parts.
