United Nations Economic and Social Council adopted resolution on the 2020 World Population and Housing Census Programme

On 10 June 2015, the United Nations Economic and Social Council adopted a resolution entitled “2020 World Population and Housing Census Programme ”. With this resolution, the Council urges Member States to conduct at least one population and housing census in the decade spanning from 2015-2024, and underscores the need for countries to implement internationally adopted quality standards for their conduct. United Nations General Assembly adopted World Statistics Day Resolution

On 3 June 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution officially designating 20 October 2015 as the second World Statistics Day, under the general theme “Better data. Better lives”. In addition, the General Assembly decided to celebrate the World Statistics Day on 20 October every five years. Read more...
