Humboldt, Distributione geographica
This drawing of plants at different altitudes and latitudes, published in a book by famous German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, shows how groups of plant and animal species tend to live only within certain climates. Humboldt’s work inspired Darwin to compare and contrast species in different geographic areas, which informed him about how species were adapted to their environment.
