Look younger, more beautiful, more desirable?

Billed as the only “Honey and Seaweed Skin Care Regime“, I first heard of skin care products made with manuka honey on my travels down under.

The manuka tree is often referred to as the New Zealand Tea tree.  The flowers are mostly white, and sometimes blushed with pink.  Honey produced in areas where the manuka tree grows are highly desired.

ManukaSea! Magic is a three part natural, organic skin care program made from a combination of active Manuka honey, seaweed, vitamin E and oils.  It is sold as a high quality affordable product designed to compete with other more expensive skin care beauty products on the market.

The ingredients in ManukaSea! Magic are guaranteed to smooth, stimulate and strengthen one’s skin.  Does it have the potential to do as the manufacturer claims?

Honey is a supersaturated sugar solution derived from nectar gathered by the honeybee.  Honey has been used since ancient times as a remedy in wound care. Many studies have demonstrated the antibacterial activity of honey, including against antibiotic resistant bacteria such as MRSA and staph infections.

It is also known that honeys derived from certain floral sources in Australia and New Zealand have enhanced antibacterial activity, and these honeys have been approved for market as therapeutic honeys (Medihoney and Active Manuka honey).

Seaweed has been shown to have health benefits.  It has a variety of uses including food, medicinal and others such as toothpaste. Seaweeds are rich in vitamins A1, B1, B2, B6, C, E, K, panthothenic acid, folic acid, niacin and trace elements and 12 essential minerals.

The food industry exploits the gelling, water-retention, emulsifying properties of seaweed. Seaweed extracts are used in foods such as confectionery, meat and poultry products, desserts and beverages and moulded foods. Carrageenan (from seaweed) is used in salad dressings and sauces, dietetic foods, and as a preservative in meat and fish products, dairy items and baked goods.

Seaweed is also the core ingredient of the most expensive face creams. Seaweed extracts are claimed to be masters of oxygenation while providing nourishment to revitalize the skin.

Ingredients of ManukaSea! Magic Skin Care

ManukaSea! Magic Skin Care products contain an emulsion of both high grade active UMF* 20+ Manuka honey and the therapeutic vitamin rich seaweed.

In addition, this product contains Coconut Oil.  This allows for natural and quick dispersion and penetration properties thus rejuvenating the skin tissue.

Sweet Almond Oil acts as a lubricant on the surface to give the skin a soft and smooth appearance.

Vitamin E, a major antioxidant found in many anti-aging products protects the body’s cells from free radical and oxidative damage.

There are no harmful parabens, no sulphates, no synthetic dyes and no phthalates in the product.

The scientific studies indicate the ingredients used in this product are in line with the claims made by the manufacturer although specific skincare studies on this product would be required.  The combination of the therapeutically active Manuka honey with the natural organic seaweed, oils and the antioxidant Vitamin E in the ManukaSea! Magic Skin Care product does have the potential for its users to experience smoother, more beautiful skin.
