Research at DFKI
The research and technology development is carried out in the DFKI research labs
- Image Understanding and Pattern Recognition
- Knowledge Management
- Deduction and Multiagent Systems
- Intelligent Visualization and Simulation
- Language Technology
- Intelligent User Interfaces
- Robotics Lab
- Safe and Secure Cognitive Systems
and in the Institute for Information Systems (IWi) at DFKI and at the associated Center for Human-Machine Interaction (ZMMI).
DFKI is involved in many large national and international projects. For example, DFKI coordinated Verbmobil, a large German project on the translation of spoken language between German, Japanese and English.
The SmartKom project develops and evaluates totally new forms of Dialog-based Human-Technology Interaction by Coordinated Analysis and Generation of Multiple Modalities.
COLLATE is a project dedicated to building up and enhancing the German Competence Center for Language Technology in Saarbrücken.
The main goal of the project Verisoft is the persistent formal verification of computer systems. The correct functionality of systems, as they are applied, for example, in automotive engineering, in security technology and in the sector of medical technology, are to be mathematically proved.
Two groups from the Deduction and Multiagent Systems Lab and from the Institute for Information Systems participate in the european integrated project ATHENA.
In March 2003 the co-operation project Adaptive READ was completed with great success. It focussed on self-adapting document analysis and information retrieval systems.
Currently, DFKI is working on more than 60 projects.
You will find DFKI Publications in the DFKI Library.
