Featured Book
Outdoor Photographer Landscape and Nature Photography with Photoshop CS2

My current featured book is Outdoor Photographer Landscape and Nature Photography with Photoshop CS2 by Rob Sheppard. It is squarely aimed at the nature or landscape audience and takes a step-by-step approach to bringing out the best in your image.

Hot New Program and Plug-in

In Photoshop 6 and 7, I was a plug-in freak, buying everything that came out.. I now use just a few tools, PhotoKit Sharpener, Neat Image,  and occasionally one of the Nik Color Efex Filters. I have now added a new one called Photomatix Pro. Here's my review of this fine product.

The program does three things and does them very well: It produces a single HDR image from multiple exposures. It blends two or more photos better than any technique I've found.  It produces a tone-mapped image that translates the HDR into virtually a finished product. The tone map process is also available as a Photoshop CS2 plug-in. Both are developed by MultimediaPhoto SARL.

Your Feedback

I welcome your reactions or your own actions or tutorials via email. If submitting actions, please send the action file, zipped or unzipped, a brief description, and, if possible, before and after examples of their effects.

Kent's Archive—UPDATED

UPDATE: Kent Christiansen's popular list of helpful tips and tutorials is newly updated in this archive that contains 17 MS Word files, covering the gamut of retouching subjects.

Important notice to those who loaded our Beta on-line help program: The system works, as you saw. But we have decided to change the architecture to simplify installation on local machines and ease updating. If you installed the files, you may leave them there ... or remove them. We will be releasing a new version once we complete more of Kent's sections. And there will be a complete set of direct web links accessible from this site.
